Also check out "In a Mirror, Darkly (Pt 1)" in the episode guide.

Official details have been released for "In the Mirror, Darkly", the first episode in a two part story that takes place in the Mirror Universe (as first seen in the Original Series'' "Mirror Mirror"), at StarTrek.com

The sudden appearance of a starship from 100 years in the future causes the Mirror Universe counterpart of Jonathan Archer, who is only Enterprise''s first office, to mutiny against his Captain, the Mirror Universe version of Admiral Forest, according to the producton report. It turns out that the mysterious ship is in fact the U.S.S. Defiant, NCC-1764, the constitution-class starship that disappeared in the Original Series episode "The Tholian Web" (story).

The appearance of the Defiant has required several of the Original Star Trek''s sets to be rebuilt (story), including the most complete bridge set outside of the Original Series itself. It has also required a redress of the Enterprise sets to replace the standard NX-01 symbols with the Terran Empire''s Vertical Sword through the Earth. There was also the construction of an additional set: an interrogation room complete with Agony booth.

The episode will also see a radical shift in the look of the crew and the title sequence. The Enterprise jumpsuits have been adorned with leather weapons belts and medals, where appropriate, for the mean, while the women''s now reveals their midriffs. Adding to the alternative look, Scott Backula''s hair was died black, while Jolene Blalok was made longer and lighter and Linda Park was given a heavy dose of eye makeup. With years of exposure to a less-than-code warp reactor, Connor Trineer had his face covered in Radiation burns, while John Billingley couldn''t sit down in the ridged black leather outfit he wore.

The episode is written by Michael Sussman, who is also responsible for last weeks "Babel One" and the Upcoming "Affliction", and directed by James L. Conway, a veteran Star Trek Director who has helmed episodes since The Next Generation, his last episode being "Damage" from Enterprise''s third season.

The official synopsis is as follows:

In the mirror universe, Commander Archer mutinies against Captain Forrest in order to capture a future Earth ship found in Tholian space.

The guest cast was also posted:

  • Vaughn Armstrong as Admiral Forrest

Vaughn Armstrong is Star Trek''s most prolific guest star, having appeared in all four modern Star Trek series beginning with Klingon "Korris" in Star Trek: The Next Generation''s first season episode "Heart of Glory". This is his fifteenth appearance as Maxwell Forest, although the character''s regular universe counterpart was last seen sacrificing himself to save Ambassador Soval earlier this season in "The Forge".
